| Source | Tag | Clicks | Signups | Subscribers | Convert | Annual | Day 90 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
D #general Your single best acquisition surface, paid or not. | dc_general | 1,840 | 402 | 61 | 15.2% | 46% | 67% |
R r/PresidentSimulator Your own subreddit. Converts about twice as well as the rest. | rd_own | 1,420 | 486 | 44 | 9.1% | 36% | 58% |
D #scenario-sharing Players posting their own runs. Highest day-90 retention anywhere. | dc_scenarios | 980 | 244 | 39 | 16.0% | 44% | 71% |
R r/politicalgames | rd_polgames | 1,180 | 372 | 27 | 7.3% | 28% | 47% |
D Welcome invite | dc_welcome | 610 | 224 | 22 | 9.8% | 32% | 52% |
R r/gaming, launch post Big traffic, weak intent. Volume is not the point. | rd_gaming | 2,240 | 288 | 14 | 4.9% | 18% | 33% |
R Untagged or organic Caught by referrer and the signup question, since others post your links too. | referrer fallback | n/a | 94 | 11 | 11.7% | 24% | 41% |
What I'd do with this
- Post the scenario-sharing prompt weekly, not occasionally. That channel has the highest day-90 retention of any source you have, paid or free. Players who show their own runs stay.
- Stop optimizing for the big subreddit hits. The r/gaming launch post pulled the most clicks and the fewest subscribers. Your own subreddit converts three times better at half the traffic.
- Feed this back into Meta. These are your highest-intent players, so they make the best lookalike seed you own. Community spend of zero makes paid acquisition cheaper.
How the tracking works
- Every link you post carries a tag identifying the subreddit or channel it came from.
- At signup that tag gets written onto the player record, so first payment, plan type and churn all join back to it later.
- Discord uses a unique invite per channel, since Discord often passes no referrer.
- Anything untagged is caught by referrer plus the one-line signup question, which is the last row in the table.
Coverage runs around 91percent rather than total, because other people post your links and those can't carry a tag. The gap is visible rather than hidden, which is the point.
